My educational journey is that I achieved my BSc. (Biology) from UBC in 2001. Diploma in Dental Hygiene from Vancouver Community College in 2006. MSc. (Craniofacial Science) from UBC in 2016. 
 
Areas of teaching are community programing, clinical instruction, critical appraisal and professional writing in qualitative research and social entrepreneurship and leadership. 
 
My two passions are sports and community service. I have taught dental hygiene students at community site for Union Gospel Mission (UGM) for several years now. We provide individuals of lower socioeconomic status dental hygiene services. In the summer when the students are off, I still go in and serve this community on my own. We have recently started a breakfast service with UGMs head quarter location where we serve largely homeless individuals with a hot breakfast which leads to a conversation about their oral health. We help these individuals get access to funding and invite them to our community site for a free exam and periodontal debridement. 
On the sports side, I am passionate about safety for athletes, this past summer I helped arrange for sports mouthguards to be delivered to the UBC football team. I partnered with the emergency dentist for UBC athletics Dr. Alex Rosenczweig to scan over 30 football players. 
 
Service to the Faculty: 
 
2020-2022 Have served on the admissions committee reviewing personal statements. Advised in selection process as part of the committee. 
2023- Have continued to assist with admissions process and am now on the admissions committee. Helped review personal statements of DHDP ETP candidates using the Kira Talent system. Video recorded interview question to be used in the interview process
