Education 
Dr. Donnelly received her diploma in dental hygiene from Vancouver Community College in 1996 and her BDSc(DH) from UBC in 2002. She received her Master of Science degree from the University of British Columbia in 2005 for the thesis "The Evaluation of a Comprehensive Daily Mouth Care Program for Long-Term Care Facilities". In 2012 she received her PhD in Craniofacial Science from UBC for the dissertation "The Relationship Between Perceived Oral Health, Body Image, and Social Interactions among Institutionalized Elders."  
 
Teaching Areas 
Dr. Donnelly has taught in the Faculty of Dentistry at UBC since 2002 in both DMD and DHDP programs. Currently she is an Associate Professor in the Department of Oral Biological & Medical Sciences and teaches in and coordinates the 3rd and 4th year community engagement programs for special care populations, and the 1st year dental public health curriculum..  
 
Research Interests 
Continuing on from her PhD work, Dr. Donnelly's primary area of research interest is in the oral health needs of special care populations. She continues to investigate, develop, and evaluate community engagement programs designed to further our understanding and improve the oral health of vulnerable and marginalized populations including institutionalized elders, people living with HIV, people living with mental health issues and/or substance use disorders, people experiencing poverty and homelessness, and those with a history of incarceration.
