Another radiograph was taken from a slightly different angle for comparison. Obliteration of the canal was seen also in this radiograph. Because of the obvious difficulty in finding the canal, no attempt was made for preparation, as this might cause loss of large amounts of tooth substance in an emergency practice without special tools and with limited time available. The patient was given fenoxymethyl penicillin four times 660 mg for seven days and referred to an endodontic specialist.
