A 48-year-old male patient had symptoms at region 32 - 33. Deep pockets were measured on the distal and lingual surfaces of tooth 33. Sensibility test revealed that tooth 33 was vital. A radioghraph showed a radiolucent lesion around the root of tooth 33 and a partial disappearance of the PDL. The tooth was slightly mobile. The diagnosis was marginal periodontitis, without an involvement of the root canal. A flap operation was performed, the root surface was cleaned and treated with Emdocain (a viscous gel containing the enamel protein amelogenin).
