A 33-year-old woman was referred to endodontic treatment of tooth 26. The tooth had been occasionally symptomatic but was symptomfree at the time of the first appointment. An occlusal amalgam filling and a temporary top filling were found in clinical examination. Tooth 26 was not sensitive to percussion or palpation. The periodontal probing depth was within normal limits. Radiographically it was not possible to see any periapical radiolucency. The diagnosis was pulpitis and the treatment plan was pulpectomy.
