Craze line

Craze lines are thin, often relatively superficial fracture lines in the crown. They can be detected in good light and magnification in most teeth. Fiber optic light facilitates detection of craze lines. They are not connected to symptomes and do not require endodontic treatment.
As craze lines in fact are narrow grooves into the tooth structure, they usually become discolored. Physical and thermal trauma to the tooth are typical etiological factors for craze lines.
