A fifty-year-old patient with horizontal fracture in the coronal root of tooth 12 was referred to an endodontic specialist for treatment. A radiograph of the tooth showed a fracture line close to the marginal bone level. The crown was mobile but was kept in place by gingival fibres. An incomplete old root filling but no periapical changes were seen.
