Preventing ingress of bacteria

* Coronal leakage has become the primary suspect as a source of infecting organisms responsible for failures of endodontic treatment. The endodontic materials in the final root filling should seal the canal from the coronal aspect to delay or prevent growth or permeation of bacteria along the filling/dentin interface.
* Several models have been devised which attempts to mimic this phenomenon in vitro.
