Apical periodontitis - Systemic medicaments

Systemic medicaments are not usually used in the treatment of apical periodontitis. However, if there are general indications for antibiotic therapy (fever, dangerous location, risk patients), antibiotic prophylactics and/or therapy is required.

In addition, in acute apical periodontitis, systemic antibiotics and non-steroid anti-inflammatory medicaments (NSAID) may be prescribed.
