Apical periodontitis - Time plan

In uncomplicated cases, apical periodontitis is treated in two appointments (if prepared ready at the first appointment) that are 1 - 3 weeks apart.

In special situations, long-term calcium hydroxide treatment may be applied (apexification, sometimes also big lesions): Calcium hydroxide is first changed after 1 - 2 weeks, then every 3 months.
