Three weeks later the tooth was still symptomatic, and the calcium hydroxide dressing was changed. Zinc oxide eugenol was used to seal the canal. Three months later some symptoms were still present and the calcium hydroxide was changed. After seven months mild symptoms persisted and no healing of the lesion could be detected in the radiograph. The tooth was left empty for a microbiological sample that was taken after one week.
