Week ten continues: an open sinus tract distally to tooth 25 was present. Bacteriological sample was taken from the fistula as follows: the mucosa was disinfected with chlorhexidine-ethanol (0.5% / 70%), and dried. A sterile paper point was inserted to the fistula for 3 mm for a few seconds. This first paper point was discarded and a second paper point was inserted deep into the fistula. The point was then inserted into anaerobic transport medium and send to laboratory.
