Examination of the patient for possible endodontic treatment consists of anamnesis, clinical examination, and radiographical examination. While certain endodontic diagnoses are sometimes relatively easy (e.g. acute apical periodontitis), often a careful clinical and radiographical examination is needed for even tentative diagnosis and treatment plan. As the great majority of endodontic diseases don't give any clinical symptoms most of the time, the value of examination is easy to understand.
