Occlusal interferences

Occlusal interferences are a common cause of oral symptoms. They also frequently cause increased sensitivity or pain during root canal therapy. That is why occlusion in various positions must be carefully checked before and during every root canal treatment. Visual observations and coloured indicator papers are used to locate interferences.

It is important to eliminate occlusal interferences before root canal therapy is started. In some cases no other treatment is needed to re-establish a symptom-free, healthy periapical area.
