At the same appointment, tooth 46 was instrumented after removing the old gutta-percha filling from the distal root canal. One per cent sodium hypochlorite was used for irrigation. The most apical part of the old root filling that was located at the periapical area because of root resorption was left in the lesion and could not be removed.
