Obliterated Canals: Prophylaxis

There is no means of stopping or reducing the physiological formation of new dentine. After trauma, and in other situations in which a diagnosis of chronic, irreversible pulpitis is made, the degree of obliteration may influence treatment decisions concerning the start of the treatment. If endodontic therapy has to be done anyway, a delay may result in further obliteration of the pulpal space. However, it is important to remember that pulpal obliteration as such is not an indication for endodontic therapy.
