Standard technic

Standard technic is a modification of lateral condensation. The philosophy behind standard technic is the ISO standard for endodontic instruments which agreed on 0.02 taper for endodontic preparation instruments, gutta-percha points (master points) and paper points. Thus, after the chemomechanical preparation the few apical millimeters of the canal are supposed to have got a circular, standard form and shape which is then filled with a master point of exactly the same size and shape. To reach this goal, the final preparation in standard technic is often bigger than in lateral condensation. Accessory points with sealer are used in standard technic in the same way as in lateral condensation. However, the first accessory points are not supposed to penetrate closer than 2 - 5 mm from the preparation length.
